We’ve earned the EcoVadis Gold Medal!

Danucem Cement Plant Awarded Gold EcoVadis Medal for Sustainability. The Danucem cement plant in Rohožník has once again demonstrated its commitment to sustainable development and corporate responsibility. Recently, it was honored with a prestigious Gold Medal in the international EcoVadis assessment, placing it among the top 5% of the world’s most sustainable companies. This achievement proves that even heavy industry can set a strong example in environmental and social responsibility with tangible impact.

EcoVadis — a Global Benchmark for Sustainability

EcoVadis is one of the most respected platforms for evaluating corporate sustainability worldwide. The assessment focuses on four key pillars: environmental protection, labor practices, ethical business conduct, and responsible supply chain management. Earning a Gold Medal in this rigorous evaluation signifies Danucem’s outstanding commitment to quality and responsibility in all aspects of its operations.

Eco-Friendly Production Driven by Innovation

Danucem has long invested in modern, environmentally-friendly technologies. Key initiatives include using alternative fuels, recycling waste materials, and continuously optimizing production processes to reduce the company’s carbon footprint. For example, substituting fossil fuels with alternative fuels significantly lowers CO₂ emissions. The plant also actively reduces water consumption and supports projects aimed at restoring local ecosystems—such as tree planting, wetland revitalization, and biodiversity protection.

A True Community Partner

Sustainability at Danucem goes beyond environmental efforts. The company is a cornerstone of the Rohožník community and its surroundings, actively supporting local projects. These include modernizing sports facilities, sponsoring cultural events, providing environmental education, and collaborating with municipal authorities to enhance public spaces and infrastructure.

Leadership and Teamwork Behind the EcoVadis Project

The success in achieving EcoVadis certification is the result of dedicated teamwork. The project was led by Karolina Rułka, Sales Representative for white cement in the Polish and Ukrainian markets, who coordinated collaboration between Danucem’s team and EcoVadis specialists. Her leadership and cooperation with colleagues were instrumental in securing the certification.

Gold Medal as a Commitment to the Future

“The EcoVadis award brings us great pride and confirms that our efforts truly matter. We thank all our employees whose dedication turns our vision into reality. This Gold Medal motivates us to continue seeking new ways to reduce our environmental footprint and support our community,” says Jozef Marušík, Commercial Manager for Cement & Anhydrite.

As one of the most advanced cement plants in Central and Eastern Europe, Danucem plans to continue investing in ecological innovations. Earning the Gold Medal from EcoVadis demonstrates that even large industrial enterprises can operate responsibly and with respect for nature and people — a positive message for the entire region and beyond.
